Precision movement and smart accumulation
Zero Pressure Accumulation conveyors (formally Motorized Driven Rollers) are an intelligent material handling system that uses sensors and zone-based controls to stop items without them touching, preventing collisions, jams, and damage. These systems are ideal for warehousing and e-commerce.
ZPA conveyors allow for accumulation of products without contact or damage—no stops or pneumatics required. Using low-voltage 24V brushless DC motors, the system delivers significant long-term energy savings through Run-On-Demand technology, which powers rollers only when product is present.
Engineered for versatility, ZPA conveyors can accommodate a wide range of speeds, loads, and operating environments, making them an excellent choice for warehousing, packaging, and assembly operations.
Typical applications include warehousing and packaging lines; boxes, totes, and general material handling; tires, batteries, and glass transport; and in manufacturing and assembly environments.
Key features and benefits
ZPA conveyors offer advanced accumulation control, flexible product handling, and scalable automation solutions for modern material handling applications.
- Contact-Free Accumulation: Items are held in designated zones, eliminating backpressure.
- Modular Design: Often configured in "plug-and-play" zones, making installation flexible and scalable.
- Energy Efficiency: Zones "sleep" or turn off when no product is present, saving power and reducing noise.
- Flexible Handling: Can manage, sort, and merge varied product sizes.
- Variety of Controls: Uses photo sensors at the end of each zone to trigger accumulation.
Common applications of zero pressure accumulation conveyor
ZPA is mainly used in:
- Distribution Centers: Sorting and merging items in high-volume environments.
- Manufacturing: Preventing product damage on production lines.
- Fragile Goods: Handling products that cannot touch or require gentle, controlled movement.
These systems are driven by 24V DC Gear Motors and are designed to improve electrical power efficiency, reduce product damage, and easily integrate with existing warehouse control systems (WCS).
